SANTA CLARITA, CA – Yesterday, Representative George Whitesides announced a $1.2 million federal investment into Santa Clarita roads and intersections that he was able to secure in Congress’ annual budget bill. The funding, announced at an event with Mayor Laurene Weste and members of the Santa Clarita city council, will go towards infrastructure projects that improve pedestrian safety and traffic circulation at three of the busiest intersections in the city.

“Bringing federal funding home for our area is my top priority, and I’ve consistently heard about the immediate need to address the roads and intersections in Santa Clarita,” said Rep. Whitesides. “More than 100,000 cars drive on our roads every single day, and it’s imperative that our infrastructure can handle that kind of demand. These federal dollars will help modernize and expand roads, leading to safer streets and more accessible businesses.”
“As Santa Clarita continues to grow, it is essential that we leverage local, state, and federal partnerships to enhance mobility, improve pedestrian safety, and maintain the high quality of life our community expects,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “This $1.2 million investment will deliver critical improvements.”
The funding Rep. Whitesides secured will address pedestrian safety and traffic flow at intersections between Golden Valley Road and Centre Pointe Parkway, McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road, and Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway, where the announcement was held. It is projected to enhance the local and regional economic wellbeing in the Santa Clarita Valley.
