Rep. Whitesides Leads Roundtable With Local Business Leaders to Highlight Economic Growth in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, CA – This week, Rep. George Whitesides led a business roundtable with BizFed, which represents over 240 businesses across Los Angeles County. Rep. Whitesides heard from local business leaders about the issues they are currently facing, and discussed the ways he’s fighting for jobs and economic opportunity in Congress.

“I spent a decade growing a business that created 700 jobs in our area, so I have firsthand experience with the potential, but also the challenges, facing business leaders across Northern LA County,” said Rep. Whitesides“I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from those who contribute significantly to the economic opportunity of Santa Clarita, and was able to reiterate my focus on supporting them in Congress. It’s important that we work together to push policies that create jobs and support employers, while also fighting back against decisions that have hurt local business. I look forward to continuing my partnership with BizFed and the companies they represent to bolster economic opportunities across Northern LA County.”

In Congress, Rep. Whitesides has championed policies to support small businesses in Congress, including the Supporting Trade and Rebuilding Opportunity for National Growth Act, which expands SBA and 504 loans to offset inflation, opening more capital for small businesses that need it. He has fought to cut unnecessary regulations placed on businesses by supporting the Main Street Parity Act, which lessens the financing requirements for certain SBA loans. Rep. Whitesides is also advocating for the Protect Small Businesses from Excessive Paperwork Act to ease burdens and shield small businesses from excessive legal red tape.

Additionally, as the Administration has pushed harmful tariffs policies that have raised costs on local employers, Rep. Whitesides has fought back by advocating for the RELIEF Act, which would provide tariff refunds to small and independent businesses who had to pay higher costs as a result of the President’s illegal tariffs. The Congressman has also fought for the Prevent Tariff Abuse Act which reins in the President’s individual ability to impose tariffs on imports without Congressional approval.

Prior to coming to Congress, Rep. Whitesides led an aerospace company based in Mojave, California. Over his decade in that role, he created over 700 jobs in Northern LA County and navigated many of the challenges businesses confront today.
