WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. George Whitesides announced his office is accepting applications for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. Each year, high school students from across the country have the opportunity to submit original artwork to their Congressional office. The winner’s art will hang on the walls of the Capitol building for the year. The competition is open to high school students from California’s 27th Congressional District and centers around the theme “The Future I Want To See.”

Submissions must comply with the following parameters:

  • Original, two-dimensional artwork
  • Max size: 26” x 26” x 4” (framed)
  • Max weight: 15 lbs
  • Must complete the 2026 Student Release Form
  • Accepted mediums include: painting, drawing collage, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs
  • AI generated art will not be accepted
  • All submissions will be accepted virtually to the link below
