California Congressman George Whitesides Delivers House Democrats’ Weekly Democratic Address

“House Democrats will not stand idly by as President Trump and extreme Republicans in Washington disrupt social safety nets and turn a blind eye to communities who are still grappling with the aftermath of a natural disaster.”

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — Congressman George Whitesides delivered House Democrats’ inaugural Weekly Democratic Address of the 119th Congress. Rep. Whitesides, who was sworn into his first term of Congress on January 3rd to represent California's 27th Congressional District, spoke from a neighborhood devastated by the recent Southern California fires, highlighting the urgent need for support and action in the wake of such natural disasters.

About Congressman George Whitesides (CA-27): 

Congressman George Whitesides was sworn in to the United States House of Representatives on January 3rd, 2025, and is currently serving his first term in Congress. He is a father, job creator, problem solver, and former NASA leader, now representing California's 27th Congressional District with a focus on solving problems and delivering for Northern Los Angeles County.

Before being elected to Congress, he served as NASA’s Chief of Staff, where he helped lead the 15,000-person organization. He was also the CEO of an aerospace company in Southern California that created hundreds of well-paying jobs in the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita. Additionally, he co-founded an organization dedicated to solving the wildfire crisis, supporting front-line responders and public health.
