Congressman George Whitesides Highlights Local Impact in Amendment to Reinstate Tax Credits for Hydrogen Hubs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman George Whitesides (CA-27) introduced a second amendment to the budget reconciliation process, to preserve tax credits for hydrogen hubs, citing the importance of local jobs and lower energy costs.
“California’s hydrogen hub network – with the flagship plant in Lancaster – has the potential to create thousands of jobs in our state while lowering families’ energy costs and adding billions to our economy,” said Rep. George Whitesides (CA-27). “That’s why I introduced an amendment to preserve tax credits for hydrogen hubs, so that we can continue bringing monthly bills down and focusing on American energy independence.”
Last month, Rep. Whitesides led a bipartisan letter alongside Senator Alex Padilla to urge the Administration to preserve federal support of the ARCHES hydrogen hub network in California, following reports that the Department of Energy was considering cutting off four hydrogen production hubs across the country. The Element Resources plant in Lancaster is predicted to create 200 jobs in Rep. Whitesides’ district alone.
This amendment, in addition to Rep. Whitesides’ Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief amendment, will be considered in the Rules Committee meeting early Wednesday morning.
